![]() ![]() I mean the real history is just as dramatic, sexy, and compelling as anything that the writers for that show are making up. Coming out of the book, I felt like I knew a little more about Mary Stuart besides her time in France and her eventual execution and it was also refreshing to read about the “real” history as opposed to the overly dramatic show Reign. Overall I felt like the book was solid and that we were able to get to know Mary and learn to love her and appreciate her the way that has been done with Queen Mary I, Queen Elizabeth I, Anne Boleyn, Catherine of Aragon, Catherine de Medici, and Marie Antoinette. ![]() I do think that Mary would’ve been harder for Meyer to research compared to the other royals that have been covered because Mary moved around to multiple countries. That might be because it’s harder to find information about Mary, Queen of Scots (I don’t really know). There were times where Mary would go into detail about the goings-on in her life and then there were some aspects that felt like we were being brushed through in order to get to something else. I really enjoy Carolyn Meyer’s Y oung Royals series, but out of all the books this one felt rushed to me. SYNOPSIS: Mary, Queen of Scots narrates the events of her life starting with her leaving Scotland for France and everything else leading up to her imprisonment (and subsequent execution) by Queen Elizabeth I. ![]()
